Smucker Foods of Canada Co. acquired the Canadian canned milk products business marketed under the Carnation brand from Nestle Canada. The acquired business included the rights to use the Carnation brand in Canada for evaporated milk, thick cream and powdered milk products. The deal expanded Smucker's presence in the Canadian grocery market with an established shelf-stable dairy brand.
